Hollywood has released many movies over the years, some good and others not so much. Unfortunately, most movies are not even worth watching--they are painful to watch, or they are just plain stupid. But there is one movie that stands out among the crowd. That's 2 States! It has a great plot with an entertaining story line. It has wonderful, relatable characters. It has all the makings of a good movie. 2 States is about Krish (Rajkummar Rao), who lives in Bihar State and wants to marry Ananya (Alia Bhatt). Ananya is from Delhi State, and her parents are reluctant about their daughter marrying outside of Delhi. Of course, they do not approve of Krish because he comes from a different state. The rest of the movie is about whether or not these two opposites can make it work despite their parent's differences. Let me break it down for you by giving you a very detailed plot. Krish and Ananya are both from Bihar State. They go to college together and become best friends. They get an internship and fall in love. Later, they become roommates and Ananya decides to propose to Krish! However, before she can make it official, an incident happens that breaks them apart, forcing them into half-sisters roles. The movie then goes on to explain how these two opposites can get together despite their parents' weirdness at the end of the movie after they get back together (Ananya's dad is a chicken farmer and Krish's mom is a big-shot lawyer). When I saw this movie, my first thought was that I was going to hate it. I had a feeling that this movie was going to be a cliché Indian romance with bad acting and lots of forced humor. It turns out I was wrong. Not only is the movie better than many of its Hindi-language counterparts, but it's also way better than most American romances as well! The cast is funny and down-to-earth, and Alia has a great screen presence. Rajkummar Rao has a perfect British accent and he does a good job at playing the dumb guy with a pretty girl--although he's not completely stupid in this one. The plot is simple and real. It's not an overly dramatic story that you've seen a million times. If I had to grade this movie, it would be a solid A. It has everything you could want out of a movie: great acting, good humor, and a great plot. And it's funny! You can watch this movie without having to worry about cringing or feeling embarrassed because the movie sucks--it's actually good! I highly recommend watching this wonderful romance if you haven't already. -- Elias_A._Perez I'm reviewing a Hindi romantic comedy - 2 States by Chetan Bhagat and Abhishek Varman . cfa1e77820
